green and red (don't worry... this is not a "holiday make-up" post)

the look: green eye shadow and red lips… still inspired by michelle violy harper (still working on her perfect complexion and those cheekbones… man… those cheekbones……)

skin: because of the dry winter air i am keeping my skin routine quite basic… just with tinted moisturizer and a little bit of powder under my eyes and over my bottom lashes to make them… disappear. when i use red lipstick i like using my very-bright-red blush... mac, powder blush, frankly scarlet.

brows: dark brown and balck eye shadow with brow gel

eyes: for a clean base i start with cream colored shadow from my cease to my brows and define the crease with a shimmery light pink. the green i used on the movable lid was mac, eye shadow, juxt. it is a good not-too-in-your-face-shimmery lime. i didn't want to use black eye liner…… so i took a dark bordeaux lip liner and plum colored eye shadow and drew them along the roots of my top lashes. the bottom lid stayed completely free from shadow and mascara.

lips: i only used this suuuuper fantastic liquid lipstick in fiery, by stila... that i already raved about here.

feeling... blaaaah

a couple of days ago looked in the mirror and felt... blaaah. it could be because i have had so much going on, that i didn't really have time or energy to put a lot of effort into… well any thing, really. nevertheless, i blamed my hair color. it had gone from the fiery-david-bowie-orange highlights to almost my natural color. which i have always found... blaaaah. a trip to duane read took care of that. so this make-up look i specifically did to honor, my freshly died hair.

the look: soft smokey-eyes with porcelain skin

skin: since my tan (that resulted from my lobsterface…) is officially gone..... i have gone back to using the winter-color of my (default foundation) mac, face and body foundation. i like this one, because it is a sheer cover (especially when mixed with moisturizer), but it can also create an even porcelain look, by working more layers of the product into the skin. and that is what i did here, before powdering my fece with mac, studio care blend, pressed and a touch of blush.

brows: with my (now) black hair, i used dark brown and black eye shadow to define my brows.

eyes: a light layer of medium grey is the main part of this soft smokey-eye. to maintain the blended look i used a plum-colored loose powder on the crease, but spared the outer v and also refrained from using black to rim the eyes, but rather a taupe colored eyeliner that i additionally smudged with a q-tip. when i applied the mascara, i made sure not to tangent the skin between the hairs.

lips: an even coat of (once again… but why change a winning team?) revlon, just bitten, lip stain + balm, forbidden.

these two bad-ass rings… love at first sight

unfortunately only one of these babies is mine… the bottom one (that has been called the devil) (has been mistaken for a piercing(!), more than once) (no, i don't take it off to sleep) i bought a while ago, at the helmut lang store, in london. the brand is lady grey... they ooooonly have sick jewelry!
i haaad to have it!

the top one is my friends…. and she won't give it to me…….

melting pigments

the look: shimmery purple pigments riming the eyes, with nude glossy lips

skin: this icy wind in new york, is really doing a number on my skin... i started using less powder after i work foundation into my skin, and that seems to help. i only dust the area under my eyes, to keep the foundation or concealer from creasing. i also only used a light amount of blush.

brows: i just had them treaded yesterday... i really don't enjoy it it huuuurts ('cus i am a big wimp, as we know...). but maaan they look good! here, i additionally filled them in a little with dark brown eye shadow.

eyes: with a combination of a shimmering light and medium pink i covered my lids from the lashes to the brows. then, with a crease brush (a brush that has medium to short bristle that make a pointed shape), i placed mac pigment---- along my lashes, drew a darker line with black eyeliner on the roots and then added another layer of the pigment. this time with a shorter bristled brush. this way the layers of shimmering pigments and eyeliner melt together and create a more smudged shadowing. when i applied mascara i made sure to coat the roots, buy wiggling the wand a bit, before pulling it towards the tips.

lips: i applied the perfect sheer-nude lip gloss cinique, super balm moisturizing gosss, rootbeer and for more dimension i drew mac, pro longwear lip pencil, in electra over the gloss.

powder and liquid

the look: purple in powdery and liquid form, on my eyes... with an orange lip.

skin: i achieved very even matt skin, by using foundation, on my entire face, and dusting it with pressed powder. in addition, i only used a very light amount of blush on my cheeks.

brows: with i winged-eyeliner look, i usually like a stronger brow.

eyes: i started out with the plum-colored loose powder, on my top lid. to soften it a little, i layered light pink on the inner corners. i also used this color to lighten the lower lid. the second purple, in form of a liquid liner, i painted along the upper lashes. with the mascara i also focused on the upper lash row and only coated the outside half of the bottom row... to emphasize the cat-eye shape more.

lips: i thought it would be nice, to combine a sheer orange lip color, to the purple on my eyes.
