summer… family… and friends

time flies…. i haven't even had a moment to share some of my pictures from my visit to munich. if you follow me on instagram you might have seen that i spent my time with eating and simply enjoying that munich was showing me her best side.

most of all i enjoyed being around the people i miss sooo terribly. of course my crazy… loving… fun family, that i am incredibly grateful for, but also my friends.... the ones that just knoooow me. i hope all of you have a group of people where you can be yourself and they love you exactly the way you are.

stay tuned for more munich summer pics…..

love at first sight... tom ford

"if i can't have these sunglasses, i might die!"....
sounds dramatic, but that i actually what i said, when i saw kourtney kardashian wearing them.

i immediately suspected that this fabulous-sexyness was tom ford... and i was right.

to make a long story short (it is long... because i did look around in new york and germany to locate the best... price. i did. don't worry) i bought them. i had to.... it was that kind of purchase that made me sweat out of excitement. i kid you not. and even though it is basically fall, and i am living on the so called "tom-ford-budget", now. (which implies not buying little things, such as a matcha green tea lattes, on my way to work, or larger things like a new winter coat......) it was worth it.

wearing them makes me feel like a million dollars! (a feeling you might have had yourself, in which case you know exactly what i am talking about, ooor you have never had it... in which case you think i am a total-drama-queen-fashion-victim-lunatic). and although some people might not believe me... i will have these foreeever. they might eventually be put to rest for a while. (like, currently, my neon orange alexander mcqueen pumps. i bought them befooooore eeeveryone and their friend wore neon... and they suddenly didn't seem special anymore.... i do still love them though). i will keep these babies until, in 20 years, my niece sees a picture of my wearing them... and will want them... and i will give them to her....... and it will give her that same million-dollar (or whatever currency we will have then...) feeling.

summer is what happens in your head (...or on your face)

so, apparently summer has ended. yesterday, to be more exact. according to some calendar... or calculations or something..... but iiii don't care about that. quoting (a german band) wise guys in jetzt ist summer: ...jetzt ist sommer, egal ob man schwitzt oder friert, sommer ist was in deinem kopf passiert... (even if you don't speak german, have a look. it's worth it..... but ether way, her is the translation: ...it's summer, it dosn't matter if you are sweating or freezing, summer is what happens in your head...)

over the last (official) summer i have been experimenting with bright eyeliner colors. i bought green, blue and purple liquid eyeliners for buy-one-get-one-free. which is always a good opportunity to try different, more daring things. and i love them! .....and more versatile than you might think.

her is a little selection of my (official-)summer looks:
in grey t-shirt and jeans, the devil wears... purple and closer i also used these eyeliners for colorful highlights.

freddie.... love at first sight

i met this little guy on hester street fair. a cute little street fair, that is unfortunately, conveniently located waaaay to close to my home. i am crazy about jewelry and stopped at the arms and armory stand, to try on some of their gorgeous rings... turns out there was not any more room on my fingers. when i was about to carry on, this cute little beetle caught my eye. it was love at first sight. after trying him on, he instantly became friends with my jurassic park-necklace (a little bug caught in a piece of amber, my dad gave my mom waaaaay back when). i named the gunmetal beetle, freddie. he got a coveted spot in my basic-jewelry-set. the kind of jewelry i really ooonly take off for yoga

holding on to summer

the look: trying to hold on to the last days if summer, i wanted make-up that was light and fresh.
the skin: tinted moisturizer to keep that summery glow. i carefully swept a bright pink loose powder on my cheeks and only matted my nose with powder.
the brows: staying with the soft natural look, i filled my brows with a light brown.
the eyes: light pink shinny eyeshadow on the top lid, all the way up to the brow bone. i softly blended, the same bright pink loose powder, that i used on my cheeks, on the outer corner and along the outer half of the crease. the last step for the top lid is dabbing a bit of highlighter above the middle of the top lash line. the lower lashes was lined with sparkling, gold loose powder. if that doesn't say summer... then i don't know what does. i didn't use too much mascara, but made sure to get all of the little lashes.
the lips: a sheer pink lipstick to finish the look.

lobsterface

so after spending the probably (but hopefully, not) laaaast day at the beach, i ended up with a... lobster face....... even though i am a preacher of skin cancer prevention and sunscreen, i somehow end up being... weeell too lazy to put it on. just staying out of the sun completely, and rocking the porcelain skin (the method i stuck to the last couple of years) was definitely the healthier and, yes, smarter tactic......
so, of course you know to moisturize, and cool, and soothe, and..... well, everyone has their own remedies. but what is done is done. and the next day i didn't want to make it thaaat obvious that i was simply to lazy to protect my skin. my red nose was the most prominent part of my face and my lips were pretty much the exact shade of the rest of my face. it was going to be a lazy sunday (running errands and bbg-ing), so i didn't want to spend too much time on my make-up.

the look: the key is highlighting and focusing on naturally defining the features, that seem to heve been washed out by the sun.
skin: evening out the skin with tinted moisturizer, or light foundation, to take away most of the red. powder against the shine. no blush (even though i am addicted to blush... it didn't feel right to put more red on my skin..... for obvious reasons) just let the natural redness come through on your cheeks. illuminating shimmer on the cheek bones create a sunkissed glow.
eyes: soft shimmering shadow on the lids (pretty much up to the brow). gold shimmer at the inner corners and in the centre along the upper lash line. mascara on those (sun bleached) lashes. that's it.
brows: naturally defined.
lips: emphasized with a classic red.
